You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the expected cost of your medical and mental health care, including psychotherapy services. Healthcare providers must provide this estimate to patients who don't have insurance or are not using insurance. You can request a Good Faith Estimate from your provider—or any provider you choose—before scheduling services.
If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your estimate, you have the right to dispute it. Be sure to save a copy or take a photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records. For more information, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
